When you decide to take that<br \/>\nstep, to commit to the process that will build your family, the idea of someone<br \/>\nbeing there for you who knows the vocabulary and legalities and the ins and outs<br \/>\nis very alluring! <o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">So what is an adoption consultant? <\/span><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adoption<br \/>\nConsultants are individuals or companies that help guide you through the <a href=\"https:\/\/adoptionnetwork.com\/how-to-adopt-a-baby\/adoption-process\">adoption process<\/a>. They generally have years of<br \/>\nexperience in the field and share their knowledge and expertise with their<br \/>\nclients. With an Adoption Consultant, you will receive adoption education as<br \/>\nwell as advice on the home study process, and many also offer advice as you put<br \/>\ntogether your adoption profile. They are there to answer questions for you<br \/>\nthroughout the process; however, they are not lawyers, social workers or agencies<br \/>\nand work strictly as advisors; they network with agencies and\/or law firms to<br \/>\nadvocate for their clients. <o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Consultants<br \/>\nare not regulated or licensed, and they do not work with Birth Mothers. Their<br \/>\nemphasis is on education and support for prospective Adopting Parents. They<br \/>\nalso review adoption opportunities and offer advice on any possible red flags,<br \/>\nalthough as they are not lawyers they cannot offer legal advice. <o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">What are the benefits of an Adoption<br \/>\nConsultant?<\/span><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adoption<br \/>\nConsultants offer a shoulder to lean on during the process. They will answer<br \/>\nyour questions in an educated, unbiased manner. They will also advise you on<br \/>\nthe creation of your <a href=\"https:\/\/adoptionnetwork.com\/top-10-tips-for-creating-an-awesome-adoption-profile\">adoption profile<\/a>. This is the marketing piece that<br \/>\nwill be given to prospective Birth Mothers so they can get to know you home and,<br \/>\nhopefully, pick you to raise their child. Finally, while Adoption Consultants<br \/>\ndon\u2019t provide studies, they often suggest where to go, and will offer advice<br \/>\nand suggestions to help you through this process as well. <o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">What don\u2019t they do? <\/span><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\">Adoption Consultants are<br \/>\nnot lawyers and cannot offer legal advice or counsel. You will need to hire and<br \/>\nwork with a lawyer to manage the legal pathway and finalize your adoption.<br \/>\nAdoption Consultants don\u2019t work with Birth Mothers. They will send your<br \/>\nprofiles to other adoption entities in the hopes of finding a Birth Mother for<br \/>\nyou. You have no control over these other entities. You won\u2019t know if the<br \/>\nentity that finds your Birth Mother will offer you any financial protection in<br \/>\nthe event of a disruption, or even how they find or handle prospective Birth Mothers.<br \/>\nAfter you\u2019ve been matched with a Birth Mother, that\u2019s when all the pieces need<br \/>\nto be fit together. Ask if your Adoption Consultant has a network of<br \/>\nprofessionals they can refer to you for all the different phases and aspects of<br \/>\nyour journey and if they will continue to oversee the process after you\u2019ve been<br \/>\nmatched with a Birth Mother. <o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\">Overall, Adoption<br \/>\nConsultants can lead you through a very challenging time and offer support,<br \/>\neducation and guidance.
